The beautiful Pine Grosbeaks have been plentiful in Vermont and New Hampshire during this snowy winter. Some feel that their presence in such high numbers represents a need to move south from their normal feeding areas in seach of food. They could be found in January, Feb and March feasing on the many winter berry trees in the area. The male is a gorgeous "rosey red " color, while the female is more of a rusty yellow-burnt orange hue. They are not shy at all, allowing me to get very close to the tree and photograph them easily while they ate.
